The PDO threads are made up of a bioabsorbable polydioxanone material, and they are introduced in the dermis through fine needles that contain them, creating in the tissue different paths in vectors that form a network to improve the structure and flaccidity of the treated area.
When placed in buttocks and other flaccid areas of the body such as the inner side of the arms or thights, they produce an immediate lifting effect due to the tension and edema they generate. The PDO threads also induce the formation of new collagen and elastin fibers from the moment they are introduced and they achieve maximum effect two to three months after implantation, which makes the results even more noticeable and beautiful after this time. They also produce a long-term lifting effect, since they stimulate fibroblasts during all the time they remain in the tissue, and these are the cells responsible for producing proteins that will give greater firmness and tone to the gluteal área. This procedure also improves the structure of the skin on the buttocks, which is essential to achieve best appearance with greater vitality, luminosity and elasticity.
The PDO threads introduced in the buttocks are absorbed in 6 to 8 months by enzymes causing hydrolysis of the sutures, leaving a lift effect lasting between 1 to 2 years depending on patient´s care.
The procedure is totally ambulatory and is performed simply with topical anesthesia. It does not generate pain on the recovery time, but just a small inflamation. Patient can go back to work the next day. The more threads are introduced in a session the best results obtained; the amount of threads needed depends on the grade of flaccidity of the buttocks and the skin condition. Patients could be implanted almost as many threads as desired and the procedure could be repeated as many times as wished.
